Edenvale Young Associates (JYA) has been operating since 2002 and has always prided itself on providing high quality civil engineering services through an understanding of the role that civil engineers and civil engineering plays in the environment. JYA is focussed on delivering innovative, cost effective engineering within the coastal and fluvial environment where there are particular and special issues relating to the environment.
JYA recognise the need to live sustainably, and are committed to consider both our resources (not only raw materials, but also natural assets such as biodiversity) and the pollution arising from their use. We consider the possible long term implications of our actions and recognise the hidden disasters that may build up gradually to produce catastrophic effects for future generations.
Accordingly we are committed to establishing sound environmental management by:
Meeting or improving upon relevant legislative, regulatory and environmental codes of practice.
Developing objectives that target environmental improvements and monitor performance by regular review.
Consider environmental issues in the decision making process by:
Identifying opportunities to enhance the environment through mitigation measures and advise our clients of potentially unacceptable impacts to the environment.
Giving clear and precise design parameters to developers, architects and engineers in relation to matters such as water quality, marine biology and terrestrial ecology.
Promoting an appreciation of the company's environmental performance among customer, employees and the general public.
Providing for the effective use of resources by:
Promoting waste minimisation by recycling or finding other uses of by products whenever economically viable.
Promoting the efficient use of resources, energy and fuel throughout the company's operations.
Provide information for the company's products to be properly used, stored and disposed of so as to avoid unacceptable effects on the environment.
Co-operate with:
The communities in which we operate.
The government, regulatory bodies and other interested parties with the shared vision of being a good and trusted neighbour.
